One of the best things about the course has been learning practical techniques. I have been sewing for many years, so I already knew how to do a lot of things, but there is a huge difference between knowing how to do something and being shown how to do it correctly.
Having someone there to explain the parts you do not understand, demonstrate different methods and answer questions has been invaluable. These three different necklines are just one example of the many techniques we have been taught.
The difference this has made to my sewing has been immense. I also have all the finished samples to refer back to, along with the instructions I was given and the notes I wrote during my evaluation. Having these examples means I can look back at them whenever I need to refresh my memory or work out how to approach something in the future.
I have already started incorporating many of these techniques into my own work, and I can see a noticeable difference in the quality of the finished pieces. It has shown me that even when you think you know what you are doing, there is always more to learn. It seems that being shown how to do something properly can completely change the way you approach it.
