For a change, this post isn’t about me. It’s about all of us who came together for one year of Extended BA.
From that larger group, a smaller group formed its own little community. We continued meeting up, having fun together and, somehow, became friends along the way. I am usually quite a solitary person. Apart from my family, I don’t always play particularly well with others, Paraphrasing Alex, “I have met my type of weird.”
This slideshow is a compilation of some of the work the whole class created throughout the academic year. Looking back at it now, I am struck by just how much we all produced, experimented with and learned in such a relatively short time.
When I signed up for Extended BA, I never expected it to be as hard as it was, but I also never expected it to be as rewarding. I worked harder than I ever have in any job, but I also discovered something I hadn’t expected: how much easier it is to work hard when you are doing something you enjoy and surrounded by people you feel connected to.
Anyone who says students are lazy has clearly never been on a course they genuinely care about, surrounded by people who understand the struggles, frustrations and ridiculousness of what you’re all doing together.
I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of this group. For one year, we learned, struggled, laughed, swore, created and supported each other. Being part of it wasn’t something I expected when I started Extended BA, but it became one of the most valuable parts of the experience.
It was my privilege.
